The eagle that watches
over the city
The town of Nkongsamba proudly bears the nickname “the city of eagles”. This is no accident: in this community, the eagle stands for excellence, vision and fighting spirit — values the people have raised to a philosophy of life and a shared identity.
When the Cameroonian administration decided to erect an emblematic monument on the town's central square, the eagle was the natural choice. The monument had to reflect the soul of the town, celebrate its sporting tradition and mark the public space with a strong, instantly recognisable presence.
The commission was entrusted to NOUMSI KEMEGNE NADÈGE, founder of ETS ARTCONCEPT, whose talent for monumental sculpture was already recognised by the Cameroonian authorities. The brief was clear: an imposing work, a symbol of strength and sporting pride, able to become the visual landmark and emblem of an entire town.
The result is an eagle with outstretched wings, holding a football between its talons and its base, in a dynamic movement that suggests both flight and mastery. Standing on the central square, this large-scale sculpture is today an emblematic landmark that every resident of Nkongsamba recognises as their own.

Three symbolic dimensions
The outstretched wings
The eagle with its wings spread wide embodies boundless ambition. In Nkongsamba's culture, this posture means that the town opens up to the world while staying rooted in its origins — an invitation to excellence that looks to the horizon.
The ball in the talons
Football is central to Nkongsamba's identity. By placing a ball between the eagle's talons and its base, the monument honours this shared passion for sport and proclaims that the city of eagles also rules on the pitch.
The central square
Its place at the heart of the town is no coincidence. The monument becomes the point where every gaze and every path meets. It tells each resident: this is where you come from, this is who you are — an eagle of Nkongsamba.
